Ambient physics puzzler Long Way Home lands on the New Zealand App Store, out for iPad tomorrow
Mind over dark matter
Calming music? Check. Simple but evocative concept? Check. Yes, A Long Way Home has all the hallmarks for an indie sleeper hit on the iPad.
Taking control of a spaceman, trying to find his way home after a catastrophic ship explosion, your task is to leap from one asteroid/rock to another, collecting dark matter for your wormhole generator, and using the various bodies’ gravity to land your intrepid adventurer’s boots firmly on extraterrestrial soil.
Complicating matters is the fact that each planetary body also rotates, meaning you have to time your leaps. A number of not-so-friendly hot stars and other obstacles also threaten a grizzly demise.
There are 100 levels to float through spread over ten stages, as well as the obligatory Game Center integration and aforementioned ambient piano/synth background music.
The game is out now on iPad in New Zealand, and should be arriving on the UK and US App Stores from midnight, priced at £1.19/$1.99.
