Adventures in Apps-land

Last week on 148Apps
|

Time marches ever onward, and so it’s time for another “Last Week on 148Apps”. What did Campbell and Jessica get up to on their mobile adventures over the past week? Quite a bit, actually.

In case you’ve yet to pay us a visit, 148Apps is one of PocketGamer’s sister sites. We cover anything from iOS games to lifestyle apps. We’ve got guides, we’ve got reviews, we’ve got news, and other short and sweet features on the mobile space.

With introductions out of the way, let’s get to it. Here’s a roundup of the latest and greatest over at 148Apps.

Extra, extra!

News was a bit light this past week, but there were a few highlights that caught our eye. SpellTower creator Zach Gage announced his new game, Typeshift, a new word puzzler in which you flip through columns to spell out words. Typeshift is arriving this week as part of the App Store’s ongoing indie games spotlight.

Moving outside of the indie space a bit, Supercell revealed they’ll be adding a 2 vs 2 mode to Clash Royale in the near future, and it looks pretty crazy.

Guides and other assorted ramblings

We had a few tips for new players getting into Blasty Bubs, a new arcade brick breaker/pinball hybrid. But if Justice League Action Run was your mobile fix for the week, we had a few tips on that end as well.

Guides aside, we recommended a few excellent apps for making your own mobile games. And let’s not forget our weekly roundups, where we broke down the best games of the week and took a look at some of the biggest discounts on the App Store.

The week in reviews Last week was a mixed bag of so-so games and some real winners. Campbell gave Tavern Guardians a try and quite liked it for its innovative mix of RPG and match-three mechanics.

We were fans of Puff., too. It’s a cute, 8-bit arcade platformer in which you keep a cloud aloft and safe from a variety of obstacles.

If you have aspirations of striking it rich in the oil industry, you might give Turmoil a try. We thought it was a fun puzzle and resource management game.

That’s it from us this week. Stay tuned for more updates next week, or, if you don’t feel like waiting (please don’t wait!) come on over and pay us a visit at 148Apps.
