Further rumours suggest that the iPad 2 will be announced early next month, with two cameras but no Retina display.

The source of this latest conjecture comes from Kevin Rose, founder of social news website Digg. Rose is well known for his Apple-related predictions.

On his blog Rose said he had it on good authority, "that Apple will be announcing the iPad 2 in the next 3-4 weeks, possibly Tuesday February 1st," adding that it will feature "front and back cameras."

For those wishing for a full Retina display on the new slate will be disappointed, with Rose claiming it will not be not be featured on the system. He does state the screen will gain an improved dots-per-inch (dpi) ratio, however.

There’s no way to tell if Rose is right, but if you’re in the market for an Apple-branded tablet it would be advisable to wait a few weeks and see how things pan out.
