The latest update to iOS, 8.1, is out today. There's not much new if you're only interested in gaming, but we thought we'd fill you in on some of the big changes anyway. Just in case, like.

Probably the biggest of the new additions is Apple Pay, which lets you use the NFC capabilities of your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus to pay for things.

You can store credit card details on your device, then wave it at a card reader with a thumb parked on the Touch ID button to splash some cash.

The service is only available in the US at the moment, unfortunately, so the rest of us are going to have to keep fumbling in our wallets or stealing things.

Elsewhere...

The Camera Roll section of your gallery has also made a comeback, because everyone hated the alternative apparently.

There's the iCloud Photo beta too, which essentially creates a cloud-based repository of the images you take on all your Apple things, adding new images to the different devices as and when they happen elsewhere.

There are some other tweaks and twists here and there as well. Although you will need 2.2GB of free space to actually install it. Which sounds a bit mental.

You can grab iOS 8.1 from your device right now for nowt. Have fun with it.
