Tales of the World: Tactics Union has made the journey from Android to iOS... though you'll still need to live in Japan to play either version.

Released on Android in June 2012, the first non-console entry in Namco Bandai's Tales of... does the usual trick of gathering together familiar characters from throughout the franchise and then sending them off into a perilous dreamscape filled with rampaging evil and funny hairdos.

In Tales of the World: Tactics Union, you get to marshal the likes of Lord Irving (Tales of Symphonia), Rubia Natwick (Tales of the Tempest), and Guy Cecil (Tales of the Abyss), and command them on the battlefield in strategic grid-based combat.

There are also couple of fresh faces, who, as PG contributor Mike Rose pointed out, look they've been pulled straight out of a Pokemon game.

When it hit Android in Japan, Tales of the World: Tactics Union was the first game in the series to embrace the free-to-play model.

However, it seems that the Japanese iOS version comes with an ¥800 price tag (although there are in-app purchases available if you do want to splash some more cash).

As far as an English language translation of Tales of the World: Tactics Union goes, we should probably point out that it took Namco Bandai eight months to get the 3DS-based Tales of the Abyss to Western shores.

Bear in mind, too, that we still haven't received an English port of the Android version of Tales of the World: Tactics Union yet.

Western audiences: you can keep your fingers crossed, but we don't recommend you hold your breath.
