There are plenty of entertaining pinball games available for Apple's iPhone and iPad. Take Pinball Arcade, for example. (Right, now give it back.)

However, very few - if any - pinball games are quite like Bulkypix's PinWar, which has just shot onto the New Zealand App Store.

PinWar is a multiplayer pinball title that features two different game modes, as well as an in-game editor, you see.

In Battle mode, you are pitted against your buddies (or computer-controlled opponents if you don't have any) in real-time face-to-face battles on a single device.

In this mode, two unique tables are sandwiched together into a single power-up-filled playing field, and you're tasked with getting your ball through your opponent's half of the table.

In Mission mode, PinWar's second game mode, you try to complete a variety of objectives, which include breaking through walls and shooting targets.

You can play through this mode alone or with a co-op partner. Again, this is all done on a single device.

PinWar will be available as a Universal app for all generations of Apple's iPad, the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, plus the third-, fourth-, and fifth-gen iPod touchs.

Grab it in the UK and US from midnight this evening for £1.49 / $1.99.
