Fancy playing Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time on your iPad? Well, here's something for you to keep an eye on: N64iOS is an upcoming N64 emulator for iOS.

It's currently in development by a three-person team. They plan to make it available on Cydia for those with jailbroken phones. While those with with jailbroken phones will be able to get it on iemulators.com, apparently.

It's been confirmed that N64iOS will only work with devices that run iOS 6 or higher.

Blow the cartridge

The team making the emulator recently took to Reddit in order to get a list of features that people wanted for N64iOS, and came back with a decent list.

Among the requested features were multiplayer support, rumble pack support, configurable controls, third-party controller support, and support for high-res texture packs.

There was also a request for an optional feature that let players pretend to blow into a cartridge before starting a game.

The team aims to deliver as many of these features as possible so you shouldn't expect N64iOS to be ready any time soon.

This isn't the first time an N64 emulator for iOS has been announced. We reported on one that was built way back in 2009.

And Android players have had N64oid for a while now too.

Anyway, if you are interested in this new N64 emulator, you can follow its progress on Twitter at @N64iOS.
