At this year's smashing Pocket Gamer Connects London, we caught up with developer Vulpine Games who revealed to us its ambitious upcoming mobile MMO, Last Planets.

If you've played Clash of Clans you'll get the basic premise. You build a base - or, in this instance, a planet - and fill it with resource generators and defences.

You then fly off into the universe to battle other planets, stealing some of their precious resources to help grow your own.

The best part is, it's all played out on a persistent universe. You can scroll to see all other planets functioning in real time.

But you don't have to go to war with all of them. You can form an alliance with other planets, and head off into battle with up to 50 of them to get some intense raiding action.

Once you're in an alliance, you can stop off at any of the stations to grab a handy boost, and fly to the aid of any fellow planet under attack.

There are also Guild Wars 2-style dynamic events which are played cooperatively with any other player who chooses to get involved.

With six unique troop types to take into battle, collectible relics, and a persistent universe full of dynamic events, strategic combat, and unlockables to find - all displayed in Pixar-style cartoon visuals - Last Planets has plenty to keep you busy when it launches on iOS in February.
