For those of you out there above a certain age who remember when the Mega Drive marked the zenith of gaming experiences, you might just find a nostalgic kick to your mobile repertoire with the announcement of Chuckie Egg 2017 by Downsideup Games.

It’s an updated and stylish take on a retro platformer that follows the age old jump and climb tropes of 2D classics like Rayman, Oddworld and Tiny Tune Adventure, (ok, that last one’s a stretch but we still love it) complete with cartoon graphics to match.

That really shouldn’t come as any surprise though as the game is inspired by the original Chuckie Egg game released in the early 1980’s.

The traditional gameplay, updated for modern tastes, should lend itself well to the games straightforward controls, which will have you flicking and tapping your fingers to help Harry collect golden eggs before running afoul (excuse the pun) of the dopey, and rather cute looking ostriches. Oh, and there’s a totally evil bird that’s on a mission to stop Harry at all costs.

There are 25 levels to unlock with three distinctive themes and music to enjoy as you climb ladders, leap from platform to platform and dodge your feathered foes, all whilst trying to beat the clock and reach success.

Chuckie Egg 2017 will be released on February 23 for iOS with an Android version also planned for release at a later date.
