Kickstart this: Blossom Tales is a retro Zelda-inspired action-RPG from the Rex Rocket devs

I've already mentioned Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King when letting you know Rex Rocket is heading to iPad. But it deserves its own spotlight, I think.

Right now, developer Castle Pixel has Blossom Tales on Kickstarter where it's looking for $45,000 in funding to bring it to life.

It's already got all the looks, though - that is, if you're a fan of pretty pixels and retro Zelda. Yep, this is a retro-style action-RPG as far as the visuals are concerned.

The story is as "classic" as it gets, too. An evil wizard called Crocus puts the king under a sleeping spell while he takes over control over the land.

You play as a heroic warrior called Lily that has just become one of the esteemed Knights of the Rose. Her first assignment is to take down Crocus, then.

But Blossom Tales isn't quite as simple as that as this story is framed as being told by a grandpa to his granddaughter.

As he narrates it, the granddaughter may interrupt with questions that change events as they happen. That makes the story a little more interesting, I guess.

Blossom Tales is going to initially be released for PC but will come to iOS soon after. Android, Vita, and 3DS versions are all possibilities but cannot be guaranteed at this point, apparently.

You can support the game on Kickstarter, getting yourself a copy of the game for PC for $10. Beta access, wallpapers, and art books are available at higher pledges.
