How to get your 14 day refund on the iOS App Store
|
iOS

Over Christmas, Apple quietly changed its terms of services to allow iOS users in the European Union to get an easy refund on any iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchase - as long as you make the claim within a fortnight of buying the content.

But how does this actually work? Where do I go and what do I do if I've changed my mind, or bought a duff app or a rubbish book?

Well, it's not exactly easy to find. But follow this guide and you'll have your money back in no time (well, five to seven days).

Refund

Open iTunes on a PC or Mac . Sign in to your iTunes account using the button in the top left corner. Then, click your name and choose 'Account Info' from the drop down menu. You may have to put your password in.

Refund

When you're on the 'Account Information' page, find the section that says 'Purchase History' and then hit 'See All'.

Refund

Next step is to find the app you want to get a refund on. If it's from a few days ago, you'll have to go into the necessary receipt. If you just purchased it, you'll find it on this main page.

When you find it, hit the 'Report a problem' button at the bottom of the screen. Now, a 'Report a problem' text button will appear next to each game. Hit the button next to the game name.

This will open a page in your web browser.

Refund

On this page you'll find information about the purchase and a drop down box. In the box, choose 'I would like to cancel this purchase' and you'll see that 'You may cancel this purchase within 14 days of receiving your receipt'.

Hit the big old 'Cancel Purchase' button and you'll reverse the transactions - no questions asked. You will receive a refund in five to seven working days.

Yes, the app will continue to exist on your device, ultimately giving you the game for free. But you shouldn't exploit that - developers need to eat too, I think.
