Each week, we get early access to an exciting upcoming game and give it to a select few hardened mobile gaming experts that make up the App Army. We then feed these thoughts back to you, our audience, so you know whether it's worth your time or not. Gamer to gamer.

Today we're looking at Man Buns: International Male Model by Toronto-based Bobby P, a casual and silly little game based on the dev's personal experiences in the industry. Similar to games like the Douchebag Workout series, you've got five days to make it or break it.

You can pick up the game for 79p/99c on the App Store now, but what did our App Army think about it?

I don't really know what this game is about. I could handle the bland graphics if there was some degree of story, polish, sense of what to do, or fun, but I don't know what to do. You go to the gym - great, a very repetitive mini-game – then you're forced to eat junk food and have inane text conversations…then more wandering: rinse; repeat. In fact, I find no reason for recommending this game. I would rather play, rather than wear, a man bun but only just.

I really like the concept but the game is repetitive. The art is a mix-up of doodle and comic-style, and there is a specific audience for this game. It won't be for everyone. The developer should take this feedback and update Man Buns a little. Good luck.

Okay, this is simple to fix. Make the map more interesting and less bland and make each place a fun game: like a Warioware game. I'm not even sure the dev's played it themselves, it's that bad. It would be so easy to make it a good game, I'm just amazed that they haven't followed through on what they sort-of started here.

This has the potential to be a fun game. The story is believable but the execution is far too repetitive.

The model is sent around a crudely-drawn city and you point in different directions to go down streets and thus carry out the tasks along that street. He [our model] is told that if he puts on weight he'll get fat and has to go to the gym; though this 'eating' consists of a picture of a pizza slice, or such, and animated bites taken out of it. The mini-game for the gym is the same exercise every time. It could do with more variety.

He also finds modelling assignments along the way which he can accept or not. These are a little bizarre as you never see him do the job, which should be the highlight of the game as it's about a model.

There are text conversations along the way which lead to situations, such as going to a nightclub, but you see the places from the outside with points coming out of the top. This should be a mini-game – so another opportunity missed.

The concept is there to be developed and it could be great fun, but in the present form it needs a lot of work to be a game that you would want to play again.

The game has great potential. It's funny and the idea is good, but it does get too repetitive. Maybe some more mini-games throughout would help. It reminds me of trying to be a Punch Club-esque game, building your character for a particular purpose, but it feels like you don't have much control in character building – this would make the game better!

The music is good and hopefully with a few updates it'll be a good game.
