iControlPad enters prototyping phase
|

We’ve been cautious about reports of such iPhone peripherals, but this video of the iControlPad - a kind of iPhone case that adds a physical joypad and buttons to the handset - looks pretty damn splendid.

It’s shown here in white, though apparently this is purely to help with the physical testing phase as it shows up any stress fractures appearing in the plastic.

The finished model will be black, and hopefully it’ll be a decent representation of the gorgeous concept artwork currently on the official website.

The iControlPad can be seen here playing Quake 4 on what must be a jailbroken iPhone, which hopefully won’t be a stipulation of the finished product - though presumably iControlPad support will have to be added to any games before it’ll work.

It went through a brief redesign late last year to ensure it’ll work with both the iPhone and the iPod touch, however, so that bodes well for the designer’s intentions for overall compatibility.

We’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on this one, and in the meantime, why don’t you keep a close eye on the photo and demo video below.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
