With the likes of Diner Dash and Cake Mania released on DS plus Line Rider and N+ on the way, we're all for casual PC web games making the jump to Nintendo's touchscreen marvel. Just check out our top five most wanted Web-to-DS feature for proof.

THQ's pretty keen on the transition, too. It's just picked up the rights to de Blob, a colour-based game that was originally created by students from the Utrecht University's School of the Arts to show how the area around the city's railway station would evolve over the next 10 years. It was so successful de Blob is now Utrecht's official city mascot!

As for what you actually get up to as de DS Blob, it seems to be a case of Katamari Damacy meets Marc Ecko's Getting Up. Yes, the Man (in this case the evil I.N.K.T. Corporation) has banned colour and fun from the city of Chromoa. Only de Blob can bring back pigmented joy, as he splodges around, splattering buildings and citizens with colour.

This should boil down to what THQ calls an 'intricate single-player' campaign, while four blobbers will also be able to head online to splatter each other all the shades of the rainbow.

It's going to be awhile until the de Blob is unleashed though. THQ is currently looking at a Spring 2008 release date.
