Acer’s nifty looking Android handset, the beTouch E400, is now available for preorder in the UK.

Online specialist Expansys has the unit down for an April 19th release at a price of £264.99.

That’ll give you a SIM free device running the latest version of Android (2.1). While the specs are fairly modest next to some of today’s all singing 1GHz beasts, they’re nothing to be sniffed at - especially for such a relatively low price.

The beTouch E400 boast a 600MHz CPU, a 3.2-inch resistive touchscreen (running at a resolution of 320×480) and a 3.2 megapixel camera. It's a mere slip of a phone at just 12mm thick, so this is clearly a phone for those who want a potent smartphone with a slightly smaller form factor than your average flabby power-brick.
