Whistleblower accuses FarmVille publisher Zynga of 'evil'
|

If that headline rings a bell, this isn't the first time Zynga has made headlines for corporate misbehaviour. Last November the company's CEO was caught on camera admitting that he did “every horrible thing in the book to, just to get revenues right away.”

This time a whistleblower has grassed him up to SF Weekly. In an article entitled 'FarmVillains', the anonymous former employee reveals the degree to which Pincus was prepared to plagiarise game ideas.

"I don't fucking want innovation," Pincus is alleged to have said. "You're not smarter than your competitor. Just copy what they do and do it until you get their numbers."

In light of this approach, the nameless employee jokes that Zynga's unofficial corporate motto is the opposite of Google's famous 'Don't be evil'. “Zynga's motto is 'Do Evil,'” he says. "I would venture to say it is one of the most evil places I've run into, from a culture perspective and in its business approach."

Strong words.

Zynga's games include FarmVille, FishVille, PetVille, and Mafia Wars, over the use of which title the company is currently being sued by Digital Chocolate.
