Ys: The Oath in Felghana arrives on PSP in the US

Long-running Japanese RPG series, Ys is back once more, this time on PSP and PSN with the catchily-titled, Ys: The Oath in Felghana.

First appearing way back in 1987 on the Japanese-only NEC PC-8801 (no, me neither), The Oath in Felghana is a remake of the third game in the series, Wanderers of Ys, which made waves at the time by introducing a side-scrolling view to the then-traditionally top-down game.

Levelled up

Adapted for the PSP controls and packing updated graphics that take the view back up above the action (and a little bit to the side), Oath features a completely overhauled inventory and magic system, five difficulty levels, and fully-voiced dialogue across the 10-hour adventure.

There’s a number of unlockable modes like Boss Rush and Time Attack to unlock upon completion, along with a sixth difficulty level if you’re feeling particularly masochistic.

Ys: The Oath in Felghana is out now in North America, digitally on the PlayStation Store and in traditional bricks and mortar locations.

You can check out the official trailer for the game by visiting the official English language website here.
