UK retailer Expansys slashes price of unlocked Xperia Play to £300, undercutting rival telcos

Online UK retailer Expansys has slashed the price of a pay-as-you-go Xperia Play to £300, which works out £200 cheaper than its previous listing and other retailers' prices - good news for those who don’t want to get tied down to a contract from one of the major retailers.

UK telco Three, for example, has the phone available on pay-as-you-go from £500. The Xperia Play handset on offer from Expansys, though, is unlocked and unaffiliated, allowing buyers to chose whatever SIM card feels right to them.

The Expansys deal includes a free car charger and five preinstalled games, including Crash Bandicoot and FIFA 10. It comes with a five-megapixel rear-facing camera, four-inch touchscreen, and those all-important PlayStation controls, of course.

The white version of the phone is not part of Expansys's promotion, however, and will cost £400 from the same retailer despite being identical to the black model in all other respects.
