AT&T drops price of Xperia Play 4G package to under a dollar
|

Good news for US-based gamers in the market for a Xperia Play 4G: AT&T has slashed the price of the package from $349.99 to 99c.

More Powerful than a speeding Go

The Xperia Play 4G comes loaded with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and features an Adreno 205 GPU and 512MB of RAM. The PSP Go, by contrast, boasts a CPU speed of 333MHz and a more economical 64MB of RAM.

Additionally, the 4G Xperia Play grants access to the Playstation Suite as well as the expected catalog of games available for a PlayStation certified device.

Not without its drawbacks

The savings do come with limitations, however. Only customers who sign a new two-year contract are eligible for the steep savings on the navy blue Sony Ericsson gaming smartphone.

Furthermore, the price drop only covers the initial purchase: monthly rates remain unchanged.

At time of writing, the cheapest monthly plan available still hovers around $60.00 (which only includes 300MB of 4G network usage and does not include an SMS package).
