To all intents and purposes, Offroad Legends is a reskinned Trials HD. You balance and accelerate your way through a series of side scrolling levels, attempting to beat a time set by the game in order to progress.

The main difference is you're driving trucks instead of riding motorbikes, which makes the leaning and tilting portion of the controls seem a little odd.

Still, while it's not ground-breaking in any way, shape, or form, there's a decent amount of entertainment here that should keep petrol heads happy.

Firmly on the beaten track

The game puts you in control of a number of different trucks, from monster to delivery, and tasks you with making your way across an undulating road as quickly as possible. You control acceleration and braking with buttons on the right of the screen and the weight distribution of the vehicle with buttons on the left.

Things start off reasonably easy, but soon you're falling down giant cliffs and attempting to avoid as much damage to your vehicle as possible as you smack back down on the dirt track. If your vehicle gets too broken, or stuck, then you'll need to start the level again.

As well as straightforward time trials you'll also have to pass levels that involve leaping over lava and landing on a target, and delivering items in an open top track over some of the bumpiest terrain you're ever likely to come across.

These additions try to keep things fresh, but sometimes proceedings still feel a little staid. The race levels feel a little barren, with the same jumps, falls, and obstacles blocking your path on pretty much every stage.

Not physically demanding

In spite of these little niggles there's still a lot to like about Offroad Legends. It's a good-looking game, and while the levels aren't as well-designed as some examples of the genre there's the odd spark of innovation to keep you on your toes.

It's not a game that sets out to reinvent the wheel, but it'll provide a few hours of entertainment to anyone with a taste for large engines, simple physics-based gameplay, and occasionally hilarious crashes.
