Xperia Play and other Xperia handsets to get 50GB of free storage via cloud service Box.net

Cloud storage service Box.net will be offering 50GB of free storage to owners of Sony Ericsson’s Xperia line of Android phones, according to a forum post on the company’s website.

While the cloud specialist currently offers a similar amount of free storage to owners of LG devices, it was revealed that anyone who owns an Xperia smartphone will receive 50GB of free space in the future after Sony Ericsson accidentally posted the promotion on its blog.

Box.net is a similar service to Dropbox in that it stores all types of files, including movies, music, images, and office documents, up in the cloud, thereby granting you access to them from any computer or tablet with an internet connection.

Readers with an LG phone can get the free 50GB by signing up for a Box.net account today, while Xperia owners will have to wait until the official announcement is made.
