Free iPhone games are all well and good, but we're increasingly thinking that some of the best bargains on the App Store are to be had around the £1-£2 mark.

The latest candidate in this category is Wurdle, a word game developed by Semi Secret Software. It presents you with a screen full of letter tiles, with your job being to find and trace as many words as possible within a time limit.

You can shake the iPhone to muddle up the tiles and present new possibilities, which is a nice touch, and there's a choice of 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, 7x7 and 8x8 grids. You can even use your own photos as backgrounds.

Oh, plus there are online high score tables, allowing eggheads to boast of their prowess to the world. Wurdle costs £1.19, and can be bought by clicking here.
