If you were excited by the news of a silver DS Lite joining the family of black, white and pink, we might just have something even better for you.

Wrapstar – a company exclusively dealing in snazzy 'skins' for games consoles, mobiles and iPods – has just sent us news of its very own "Nintendo beating" silver skin, designed to make your DS look just like the official silver model.

It's obviously difficult to tell how convincing the effect is without having it in our hands, but we've previously reviewed one of Wrapstar's PSP offerings and were suitably impressed by both the quality and effectiveness of this simple product. In fact, nearly nine months on, we've still got the back skin stuck on what used to be the main PSP for reviewing (until a Slim & Lite model came along) and it remains as pristine as the day it was applied.

But back to the silver DS version. It's to be released at the start of October, so earlier than the official silver DS launch date of the October 12th. Essentially, you'll be able to pretend to your friends you stole one from the DS warehouse. Or that Nintendo president Satoru Iwata is a personal friend who sent you one early.

Although they're probably more likely to assume it's simply a Japanese import, obviously – it's been available there for what seems like forever.

Wrapstar boldly claims that gamers will be making a saving of over £90 by buying its skin. Which, much as we've been impressed by the company's product, is a dubious statement if you ask us. Isn't that a bit like saying you can save £229 on an iPod by moulding some Plasticine into the shape of one?

More to the point, perhaps, who are these people who have enough cash to fork out for a second console just because they like the colour? And would any of them like to marry us?

Anyway, you can check out Wrapstar's full assortment of sticky DS love here. The silver skin will be available from the likes of GAME and Amazon at the start of October priced £4.99.
