EA views Windows Phone 8 as an essential part of its handset strategy
Much-needed boost to the platform
Prolific mobile developer and publisher Electronic Arts is in talks with Microsoft to launch its catalogue of titles on Windows Phone 8, which it sees as central to its handset strategy.
"We're working very closely with Microsoft to understand what their views on gaming navigation are," Peter Moore, EA's COO, said. "Anything that allows more platforms to be adopted quickly that have a gaming element is good for Electronic Arts."
The Madden creator hopes that phone, tablet, and web-based titles will reduce its reliance on boxed retail products.
We have no idea which games - if any - will make it to Microsoft's mobile OS, but it's probably safe to assume that familiar faces like FIFA, Medal of Honor, and the aforementioned Madden series will make an appearance.
An expanded catalogue of games will obviously help the Windows Phone OS in its seemingly endless battle with both Apple's iOS and Google's Android platforms.
