Confirmed: Windows Phone 7 gets ‘Worldwide Launch Event’ on October 11th

Microsoft has chucked a page up on its Events website, detailing a rather important event: the Windows Phone 7 ‘Worldwide Launch Event’.

Taking place at the Microsoft Technology Centre in New York City, and opening at 3:00 pm on Monday, October 11th, the event will let customers see the new series of phones first hand, go hands on with the OS, and get a look at the apps they’ll be playing with once the phone’s out.

We’ll get a similar event in London, on the exact same day. Pocket Gamer is attending, so come back to this fine website for the full scoop.

Hopefully we’ll also get a firm announcement of the device’s launch date, instead of all these rumours. The latest one points at November 8th, if you’d forgotten.

Windows Phone 7 is a gaming-focused OS that hooks up to your Xbox gamertag for achievements and friends. It will be available on all UK networks, including Orange and Vodafone.
