N-Gage + DS + Game Boy ...

Is Sony set to release a new PSP in Spring 2007? You can imagine how well it would go down with anyone who purchases a PSP this Christmas, yet Nintendo has already done the same to smashing effect with DS Lite so it can't be ruled out on that score.

In blog reader Sickr's view: "The thing that Sony need to wake up and realize is it isn't the hardware that's the problem, it's the actual lack of big titled games that are available for the system that are causing gamers to shun the console."

We're already looking forward to Nokia's new N-Gage mobile games platform here at Pocket Gamer, but we haven't heard much from games publishers about it. Fraser MacInnes looks into an apparently genuine document detailing the game makers who've already signed up – which even includes Sony, it seems.

Games from such a prestigious list would certainly bode well for the smartphone-based system's launch. Watch this space for upgraded N-Gage coverage.

You've heard of the Mile High Club? Well, these guys hooked up thousands of feet above the air, only using the DS' wi-fi connection rather than, erm, what nature gave them. If that sounds tame, realise they were doing it while plummeting towards the earth without a parachute.

Also on the pocket blog this week is a story about Microsoft's Zune player interlinking with Xbox Live, a cute Advance Wars quote generator, a free PSP movie, a man who made an omelette out of his busted PSP and sold it on the Internet, the Elite Beat Agents tracklist and some pictures from mobile game developer ideaworks3D's party in London's Serpentine Gallery.
