Zoo Tycoon Friends lets you transfer progress from your PC to your Windows Phone, coming out this summer

Behaviour Interactive and Microsoft Studios announced Zoo Tycoon Friends for Windows 8 and Windows Phone at Develop in Brighton today.

This is for those of you who have ever wanted to take your virtual zoo around with you in your pocket.

Yes, of course, you've been able to do that before with Zoo Tycoon 2 on DS, and Zoo Tycoon 2 Mobile is almost 10 years old now.

What Zoo Tycoon Friends allows is for you to synchronise your progress across the PC, tablet, and mobile versions of the game via Microsoft Azure.

This means you can play on your PC, and continue playing from the same spot on your phone when you go out somewhere.

It also has Xbox achievements and leaderboards so you can compete with your friends' zoos.

There's also plenty of choice for controls. The game will adopt instantly to touch, stylus and keyboard / mouse controls depending on your input.

Zoo Tycoon Friends has 40 different species of animal for you to adopt and care for.

You'll need to construct habitats for them, as well as make your zoo presentable to customers. You know, the usual range of tasks presented to you in a Zoo Tycoon game.

Zoo Tycoon Friends will be available as a free-to-play game on Windows 8 and Windows Phone this summer.
