Poor reviews a possible catalyst

Windows Phone racer Pac-Man Kart Rally receives price drop only days after release

Late last month, Namco Bandai's nostalgia-fuelled racer Pac-Man Kart Rally zoomed onto the Windows Phone Marketplace, hoping to dazzle smartphone owners with its retro charm and Mario Kart-esque gameplay.

However, it wasn't long before negative user reviews began pouring in, with many customers lodging complaints about the game's poor handling and annoyingly repetitive music.

As if in direct response to these critical assessments, Namco Bandai dropped the price from $4.99 to $2.99 only days later, leaving dissatisfied customers who bought the game for full price at release even more annoyed.

False start

The game, which is only the second kart racer to appear on Windows Phone, features an array of characters from the Namco Bandai universe, including The Prince from Katamari, the ship from Galaga, and, of course, the titular dot muncher himself.

Pac-Man Kart Rally is purportedly also the first Windows Phone game to support real-time wi-fi multiplayer, although it sounds like rounding up three other people willing to tear up this game's tarmac might prove quite arduous.

If you want to take Pac-Man Kart Rally for a test drive, you can download it from the Windows Phone Marketplace for £2.29 / $2.99 [buy].
