As the old adage goes, 'you get what you pay for.' When that item you've just paid for is the new budget Lumia 610 Windows Phone from Nokia, you're getting a handset that's packing significantly less RAM than its bigger Lumia 800 and 900 brothers - 256MB compared to 512MB.
While Microsoft has said that 95 per cent of apps should still run on the more 'forgetful' phone,
WM Phone Apps has discovered that some rather high-profile titles are part of the 5 per cent that don't run on the Lumia 610.
PES 2012 is one such title, although the 3D graphics do suggest it needs a phone that packs a fair punch to run it in the first place. What is surprising, however, is that
Angry Birds and
Skype also can't handle the lack of RAM in the Lumia 610.
This is the same
Angry Birds that ran fine on the iPhone 3GS back in the day, despite Apple's third-generation blower packing the same RAM as the Lumia 610.
While you won't be able to play Rovio's smartphone classic on the Lumia 610, you will, at least, save a few hundred on the price of a phone.

Having been out for a while, the Lumia 710 should be available for about the same price as a 610 - and it's a FAR better phone. The 710 is a great device. Great screen (no PenTile matrix like the 800, for example) and the same power as the 800. More importantly, it has the same power as other WP7 devices and enough RAM to run everything.
