It may have recently announced a pair of own-branded Surface tablets, but it doesn't look like Microsoft will be manufacturing its very own Windows Phone 8-powered smartphone any time soon.

"No, we do not," Greg Sullivan, Microsoft's senior marketing manager, responded when asked by Information Week if his company wanted to bring its Surface business model to the phone market.

Sullivan cited Microsoft's strong alliances with the likes of Nokia, HTC, Samsung, and Huawei as his company's reasoning for not entering the smartphone market.

"We have a strong ecosystem of partners that we are very satisfied with," he said.
