Grow

It's a big bad world out there, full of mean creatures that won't hesitate to prey on the weak. When you play Grow it's worth remembering that you're often one of them.

In Grow you play as a fish steadily outgrowing a series of environments, ranging from a jar to an aquarium to the abyssmal depths of the sea.

But throughout your journey, one thing remains constant: you have to eat other fish. The aim of Grow is to, well, grow. You do this by munching away at fish that are smaller than you.

It's not quite as easy as it sounds. As you progress through each of the 70 levels – which are split across seven environments – you encounter crafty aquatic critters that want to ruin your feeding time.

Developer Epic Pixel has thoughtfully included three different control schemes. Once you've gotten to grips with the ins and outs of movement, you can upgrade your speed, ability to collect coins, and number of specials slots you have in your journey.

It's all blissfully simple, but in that simplicity lies the game's brilliance. It's addictive, enjoyable, and crammed with content to keep you busy for short bursts.

Quite possibly the tallest man in games, Vaughn has been enamoured with video games from a young age. However, it wasn't until he spent some time writing for the student newspaper that he realised he had a knack for talking people's ears off about his favourite pastime. Since then, he's been forging a path to the career he loves... even if it doesn't love him back.
