Castle-hopping metroidvania Frog Tale will bring a classic gaming feel to mobile

Frog Tale is an upcoming metroidvania about a frog curse that'll have us hopping around a royal castle.

It's played by tapping either side of the touchscreen to hop left and right respectively. That's all you need to dodge hazards and wall-jump up the narrow passages of this stone-slab palace.

As you explore, you'll collect items that give the frog new abilities that let you find new entryways in older areas. You know, just as most metroidvanias do, usually.

Unfortunately, there are few details about the game's plot in the announcement on the TIGSource forums. But, presumption has us believe that this frog was once of another form.

Perhaps it's a follow-on from the classic "The Frog Prince" tale and so you'll need to find a princess willing to kiss a frog to turn human again. Maybe.

Frog Tale

The person who would know is solo artist "bitslap" as it's them who is developing Frog Tale.

What they do say is that they want to bring the "old school gems classic feel to the handheld devices of today (touch screens)."

That includes iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. It may also be released on PC at some point, apparently.

Frog Tale is about halfway done so far after about half a year's work. So, hopefully, it will be on our own touchscreens in another half.

Check out the TIGSource devlog for more updates on the game.
