Microsoft has revealed some forthcoming Windows Phone update details at this year's Gamescom event in Cologne.

The Games Hub is set to receive several new features in the Windows Phone Mango update, starting with Game Add-ons -or in-app purchases, to use the parlance of our time.

These will allow you to spend your precious Microsoft Points on extras such as new levels, weapons, buckets of berries, and so on.

You'll also be able to unlock new Avatar Awardables, which are achievements that your avatar can wear.

Finally, Fast Async for improved asynchronous multiplayer games, and improved parental controls will be implemented.

Microsoft also revealed 14 new Xbox Live-supported games for its range of phones, including the likes of Kinectimals Mobile, Glu's Bug Village, and the excellent Orbital.
