Microsoft bringing Xbox Live games to Windows Mobile

Job posting gives the game away

Microsoft is in a prime position to bring its dominant position in various electronic entertainment areas together, but it's been quite slow to put up its virtual umbrella.

The Xbox 360 and Zune HD are currently enjoying the closest electronic relationship, but the Windows-based PC and Windows Mobile smartphones are still quite insular.

All that could be about to change, however, as The Vole has put out a job posting on December 23rd looking for a project manager to, "bring Xbox LIVE enabled games to Windows Mobile" with, "avatar integration, social interactions, and multi-screen experiences."

And apparently this was a very appealing concept, as the post has already been filled.

While this is essentially an official announcement to expand Xbox Live beyond the Xbox 360, Microsoft hasn't revealed any other details as to how this will work.

Presumably it'll kick off with simple data and profile access, but as next-gen smartphones filter out this year, the potential for cross-platform gaming is pretty damn exciting.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
