Indie developer 17-Bit Studios announced that it will release its upcoming samurai strategy title Skulls of the Shogun worldwide on January 30.
The quirky Skulls of the Shogun mixes comedy, strategy, and excellent graphics together to tell the story of General Akamoto - a feudal warlord who finds himself warring across the underworld after winding up on the unhappy side of an assassin's blade.
We went hands on with the game back in December, and thought it was a good amount of fun when played on a Surface Tablet, Windows Phone, or Xbox 360.
Opening Windows in the afterlife
While the single-player campaign for Skulls of the Shogun is enjoyable and challenging in its own right, the real draw to the title is its cross-platform multiplayer mode.
Those playing on their Windows Phone or Surface tablets can enjoy up to 30 asynchronous multiplayer games at the time with their friends playing on any supported Windows platform, while Xbox 360 players can challenge one another to real-time games.
Skulls of the Shogun will launch across a full suite of Windows devices on January 30. The Windows Phone version will cost £4.99 / $6.99, while the Windows 8/Surface version will cost £10.49 /$14.99. Those looking to pick it up for their Xbox can do so for 1200 Microsoft Points.
