GTA 5 for PC gets new release date and first screen previews
For: Windows 8
There was an audible groan across the online gaming community when Rock Star announced yet another delay in the release of Grand Theft Auto V for PC. After building our hopes up for autumn 2014 they then gave us something to look forward to in the dark days of January. When the new year rolled around however there came an announcement that we wouldn't actually be getting our hands on it until March 24th. Now it is has been knocked back again until the 14th April and as a goodwill gesture they are offering $1,200,000 in-game dollars to all those who pre-order the game by way of apology.
Delaying the launch of a new game is never a decision a company takes lightly. Rock Star were hugely apologetic when they announced the second delay and tried to ease the blow by telling us that it was in the best interests of both the game and its fans. The next instalment in a blockbusting franchise is always a nervy time for all concerned and while we may have all felt a bit bummed out with the news I would personally prefer to wait a bit longer than feel let down by forking out for an inferior game.
Other news on this front is regarding GTA Online for PC. We now know it can support up to 30 players at one time and will be launching alongside GTA V for PC and will include the heists we have heard so much about. Never fear console owners, your online heists will be arriving at a console near you in the weeks prior to the PC launch. We also know that GTA V for PC will run at 1080p and 60fpd with resolution of up to 4K as well as full support for triple monitor configurations. It will also support NVIDIA 3D Vision for up to 3 monitors and you can get a glimpse of the special edition by clicking here.
So to the screen previews: Rock Star has released them in 4K and I'm sure you'll admit they are certainly looking pretty impressive. Los Santos and Blaine are taken to a whole new level of detail thanks to the aforementioned specs. Feast your eyes on that landscape, imagine yourself behind the wheel of the car. Does it look as if it’s worth the wait? Darn right it does!
Welcoming a new member into an existing family is always an exciting time. On the one hand, you want that old familiarity you are so comfortable with, yet at the same time you’re on the lookout for how it has been improved since last time. You generally can't go wrong with GTA though; we will never tire of flying around in the kind of cars we can only dream about. There will be a new plot line, the game play will have been improved and the screen previews highlight the effort put into graphic detail. I for one cannot wait until the 14th April rolls around.
