Xbox SmartGlass coming to Microsoft Surface on Friday, iOS and Android in 2013
|

Xbox SmartGlass will hit Microsoft's Surface tablet as part of the Windows 8 launch this Friday, October 26th, and will subsequently be released for Windows Phone 8 devices on October 29th.

Microsoft's second screen tech won't be available for iOS- and Android-powered devices until early 2013, though. Bummer.

You remember what SmartGlass is, right? Okay, well, incase you don't, it's basically an application that will allow you to control or interact with your Xbox 360's content using your smartphone or tablet.

You'll be able to control the playback of your movies and music and use your connected devices to view information on actors and artists as you watch and listen. You'll also be able to control the Xbox's all-new Internet Explorer app.

This functionality also extends to games: a GPS map will be displayed on the screen of your smartphone or tablet while you speed around the track in Forza Horizon, for example. Sounds handy.

An Xbox Live Gold subscription is required to access some of the above features.
