Hold up - I think Windows 8 is about to get its killer app.

Comedy game maker Twisted Pixel has announced that The Wavy Tube Man Chronicles will hit the Windows Store soon.

Originally a free downloadable level pack for Kinect shooter The Gunstringer, The Wavy Tube Man Chronicles is a parody live-action shooter that pays tribute to wonky FMV blasters like Mad Dog McCree.

So, expect a B movie plot (involving time travellers in the Wild West, naturally), terrible acting, cheap props, constant breaches of the fourth wall, and plenty of high jinx. All this, while tapping on bad guys.

This Windows 8 version also has chapter select and behind-the-scenes special features. It will hit Windows 8 and RT tablets for $1.49 "soon".

Speaking of Twisted Pixel and the word 'soon', it looks like the mobile edition of Ms. Splosion Man is on the horizon.

The Texas-based studio told a Tweeter that the auto-explosive platformer will hit Windows Phone 7 "soon".

Ha, when I first saw the title my mind went to a sequel to Wavy Navy, an old game I'd play on my Apple IIe. I was a little more excited about that.
