Subset Games has outlined some of the new content in the iPad version of FTL: Faster Than Light

Subset Games has released some more information about the upcoming FTL: Advanced Edition, which should go live on iPad at the same time as it's released on PC and Mac.

FTL: Advanced Edition is essentially a tweaked and twisted version of the original indie hit. In effect, Subset has added a bunch of new mechanics and ideas to its space-faring smash.

Among the new additions listed in the most recent blog post over on the FTL site is the "Clone Bay". This is an "alternative to the Medbay" in your ship. From the Clone Bay, you can regenerate dead crew members (albeit with some skills missing).

There's a new hacking system, too, that enables you to fire drones at enemy vessels to block doors and attack their systems in various different ways.

Through the "Mind Control" system, meanwhile, you can take over the mind of an enemy for a short while. And the backup battery is, well, a backup battery.

Last but not least, there's a new Hard mode. Subset describes this as "for our more masochistic fans". Expect tougher enemies, lower scrap rewards, and a host of other tweaks for anyone who's done with Normal mode.

There's a lot more detail over on the FTL blog, so if you want to know more about the new additions, wander over in that direction.

There are even GIFs. Yes, really.

We don't have a release date for the iPad version of FTL: Advanced Edition yet, but we will keep you updated on that score.
