Warriors of the Lost Empire finds its way onto PSP

A new set of screens for Warriors of the Lost Empire from Atari (which is distributing the game in the UK) reminded us of two things.

One is the fact that we haven't told you about this game, due this November, until now.

Two, was the reason why. We've had no information, you see.

Thankfully, some turned up alongside the screenshots and while it's not enough to base a novel on, we can at least confirm what you can suspect form the images is a hack-'n-slash action affair, albeit with some RPG elements thrown sliced into the mix.

The story revolves around being hired to reclaim "the citadel", the press release informs us, which involves fighting and exploring your way through a series of dungeons.

Whether you decide to do this on your own or with a friend via wireless ad hoc support is up to you, but know that bosses await your character – which you get to choose from four classes, each offering individual skills.

Be it a barbarian, archer or sorcerer, your character is customisable and has access to more than 150 weapons – excluding the unique offerings you get when you commission the local blacksmith to create something out of combining weapons you already possess.

Okay, there's nothing revolutionary about any of the above and, let's be honest, the screens do look a little ropey. But we're nothing if not optimistic – despite the generic content and (seemingly) mediocre visuals, if Warriors of the Lost Empire plays well enough there's nothing stopping it from emerging as a surprisingly enjoyable experience. We'll let you know.
