Pocket Gamer has gotten a little sick of iPhone games maxing out, going large, and supersizing their way to the iPad. If nothing else, we've just run out of ways to describe the high resolution transition.

Thankfully for us, Warpgate HD has done the exact opposite. Freeverse's space-faring iPad launch game is now available on the dramatically smaller screen of the iPhone and iPod touch, and its lost the HD suffix in the transition.

It was supposed to launch alongside its much larger cousin, but it suffered a delay thanks to Apple's massive backlog of iPad launch applications. Now the tablet is out in the States, the smartphone overlords are back to approving iPhone apps and updates.

Warpgate is all about conquering the universe by dominating commodity markets, exterminating enemies, and exploring the furthest corners of space. It offers 35 star-systems, with 100 main quests and 172 starships to complete them in.

Warpgate is out now for iPhone and iPod touch for £2.99 or $4.99.

The iPad version, Warpgate HD, is also available for £4.99 or $7.99.
