Warpgate to decloak for iPhone on April 13th
Phasers set to launch
One of the most anticipated iPhone games - partly because it first surfaced back in August 2009 - Freeverse's epic space exploration and combat game Warpgate is finally due out on April 13th.
Launched for iPad on April 3th, the iPhone and iPod touch version was delayed due to the backlog of submissions following iPad activity.
But now it's all systems go for the open-ended game that offers a universe of 35 star systems to explore in 172 ships through over 100 quests. There are also six guilds and your actions will affect your standing with them.
Plus there's an in-game economy that will change the price of the goods you're trading according to local supply and demand.
Boldly goAlong the way, you might come across the planet Hibernicus, which was the first to be named in Freeverse's Name A Planet Contest. It's apparently inhabited by a bear-like species who make for terrible space pilots.
And while you're waiting, you can brush up on the game's set up, thanks to our interview with programmer Mark Levin.
"We expect it will take about ten hours to see and do everything the game has to offer at least once, but the game doesn't have a real end. You will never be ordered to stop playing," he told us.
Warpgate is currently available for iPad priced $7.99 or £4.99. The price of the iPhone version will be announced soon.
