Famous explorers often made their mark on the world by having things named after them.

The Henry Hudson River, William Penn-sylvania, the Cook Islands, the Polo mint... You get the picture.

Well how about getting an entire planet - albeit a virtual one - named after you as you sit in the comfort of your own home?

That’s the contest Freeverse has set up for its forthcoming space-based game Warpgate.

All you need to do is follow Freeverse on Twitter and tweet your choice of planetary name with @freeverse or the word #warpgate in the entry.

The winner will be announced on 7th September and to get you in the mood, check out some of the submissions to-date.

And no, really, don’t bother with versions of Uranus.
