Infinite Interactive, the company behind the long-running PC strategy franchise Warlords, has struck a deal with mobile outfit Impossible Games to bring the brand to our phones in a series of games.

The Warlords franchise has seen some ten titles released in its 17-year long history, conquering the hearts of fans with its mix of strategy gaming in a fantasy setting.

The first Warlords title for mobile phones will be available later this year. The game has already expanded onto PocketPC in its Warlords II incarnation, and Infinite Interactive also has a DS and PSP Warlords-inspired title in production, Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords.

The mobile developer, Impossible, is not yet saying if the phone title will take the strategy or puzzle approach to the brand.

"The series has always been exceptional and that's not going to change with the transition to mobile environment," promised Impossible product manager Miklós Csémy, the man who'll make it possible.

But fans of the series might ponder his thoughts on future Warlords mobile games: "As for the titles to come, some choices should be fairly obvious while others may be surprising. That's all I can say at the moment."

Czech-based Impossible has produced over 20 mobile games since it was founded in July 2003.
