Chess gets a multiplayer WAP makeover for mobile

Most of the mobile games we write about on Pocket Gamer are downloadable Java games, although some are Symbian, and the odd title is BREW (we'll be writing more about the latter when 3 launches BREW in the near future, mind).

One format we don't write much about is WAP, but US firm Cellufun has been releasing a steady stream of WAP games, whose main advantage is they're playable on any connected mobile phone.

The latest is WAP Chess, which provides multiplayer chess with whizzy matching technology to make sure you get an opponent suited to your skill level. There's also a mobile opponent to play against, plus a hint engine and tutorial mode for chess newbies.

Fancy giving it a go? Point your mobile browser at wap.cellufun.com and get your bishop on.
