Free advergame VW Touareg Challenge pulls into the App Store

With typical Teutonic timing, the brand-new VW Touareg is racing simultaneously into all good showrooms and onto the App Store courtesy of German developer Fishlabs.

The king of the free iPhone advergame returns to familiar ground, having already collaborated with Volkswagen on launch titles for the Scirocco R and Polo.

This time racers can get their virtual thrills on six on- and off-road courses behind the wheel of two flavours of the mid-size crossover SUV Touareg.

“In our games, we not only make sure that we present a brand like Volkswagen and the Touareg product in the best possible way, but also that we offer an attractive implementation which takes into account the needs and desires of gamers,’ says Michael Schade, Fishlabs; CEO.

The Challenge element in the game’s title comes both via the rapidly changing in-game weather and road conditions and through the social networking integration.

Those who choose the Touareg Hybrid also win additional points for efficient driving.

High scores can be uploaded via the usual suspects, Facebook and Twitter, whilst challenges can be dished out by email.

Pimp Your Ride

Successfully completed courses automatically unlock customisable attributes in the shape of rims and paint jobs.

If that wasn’t enough free material, players can burn rubber while rocking out to three bands from the Volkswagen Sound Foundation: Tonbandgerat, jona:S und Jupiter Jones.

Of course, as the genre advergame implies, those good folk over at Fishlabs aren’t just producing these racing games for a giggle.

Once you’ve pelted around the six varied and challenging courses to your heart’s content, why not use the integrated search function to guide you directly to a nearby Volkswagen dealer?
Handy, that.
