Vodafone Nexus Ones getting Android 2.2 this week
OS update all ready FroYo
Vodafone has revealed that it will be starting the process of upgrading Nexus One-owning customers to the latest version of Google’s Android operating system (2.2 or FroYo) this week.
That’s good, if slightly belated, news. So why the delay?
Apparently, it’s because the operator felt the need to remove a couple of pre-installed programs. Amazon MP3 and Google Goggles will not be installed by default when the OTA update hits, although rather bizarrely Vodafone is quite open about the fact that “Both can be downloaded free of charge from the Android Marketplace” anyway.
But before Vodafone customers start grumbling about the time it's taken, spare a thought for non-Nexus One Android owners.
We haven’t had so much as a sniff of an official 2.2 release on any operator.
