Vodafone set to launch Android App Shop

European mobile phone provider Vodafone is set to launch its own version of the Android Market, MobileGamesBlog reports.

According to developer BlueMedialab, the 'Android App Shop' will be part of Vodafone's 360 experience and will be available in the UK, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain at launch. It will be managed by Arvato mobile in Germany.

Vodafone wants to launch the shop with free apps and games, and is contacting developers of successful, free Android apps. Arvato will also accept ad-funded apps, but adult content is a no-no.

Once paid apps hit the shop, Vodafone will take a 30 per cent cut (similar to Android and iPhone revenue shares). Vodafone customers, who'll have the shop preinstalled on Vodafone branded Androids from June 2010 onward, will be charged through their phone bills.
