Burnout spiritual successor aims for VR

There's a spiritual successor to the Burnout series of racing games on the way, and it's coming to VR.

In comments to Develop, co-founder of Burnout dev Criterion and studio Three Fields Entertainment Alex Ward confirmed that in addition to its planned release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, he'll also be looking to support the Oculus Rift and the Playstation VR.

It could be an experience best described as a vomit comet, based on the tease from Three Fields Entertainment promising: "Speed. Traffic. Lots and lots of crashing".

Three Fields seems to be starting with a bang. Alongside the spiritual successor to Burnout, there's also tweets about the company's initial project, a multiplayer sports game to be released early next year.

We're being kept in suspense as to the exact nature of the new racer though, with one tweet asking whether it should be a successor to the 2nd, 3rd or 4th game.

Burnout is a beloved series with the frantic Burnout 3: Takedown being one of my personal favourites, so i'll be keeping an eye on this one.
