Retro gamers can never have too many classic shooter clones, and this latest offering from developer Rude Scotsman Vector Blaster looks like a line-drawn beauty destined to strum our nostalgic pangs.

Previously an underground hit on the PocketPC, this clone of Atari's immortal vector-drawn shoot-'em-up Tempest appears to add a slight twist to the mechanic by rotating the 'tube' shaped environments around the ship, rather than the ship circumnavigating the perimeter as it did in the old coin-op.

Otherwise, Vector Blaster looks like a spot-on interpretation of Tempest, featuring a beautiful range of pseudo-vector-drawn levels as your ship flies 'into' the screen, sending streams of electrical charges along the lines to dispatch the geometric enemies.

Draw a line straight over to the 'Track It!' button to keep up with our Vector Blaster coverage.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
